Content moderation, flagging and information barriers

How to enforce a Slack code of conduct: the Content Admin role, content flagging settings and review actions, pausing or hiding threads, admins deleting messages on any plan, and information barriers that block DMs and huddles between groups.

Official exam objective
Given a scenario, determine how to moderate conversations that violate an organization's Slack code of conduct.

What the exam expects

  • Delegate flag review with the Content Admin system role instead of an admin role.
  • Configure flagged content review: content types, the policy link, restore and notification options, and the EKM exception.
  • Predict who can flag (not guests) and where a flag on an external person's message goes.
  • Choose between pausing and hiding a thread, and act on flagged profile content.
  • Remove a single message on any plan, and block DMs and huddles between groups with information barriers.

Key terms:

  • Content Admin: the system role that reviews flagged content and moderates content in an Enterprise org.
  • Flagged content: messages, profile content or conversation details that members submit for admin review.
  • Pause replies and reactions: a thread action that stops new replies and reactions but leaves the thread visible.
  • Information barrier: a block on DMs and huddles between two IdP groups or org-level user groups.
  • Enterprise org: an Enterprise organization (Enterprise Grid or Enterprise+ plan); flagging, moderation and barriers exist only there.
