The exam changed in ways that many older study guides have not caught up with: there is now a dedicated Agentforce section, Flow has replaced Workflow Rules and Process Builder in the automation objectives, and the passing score is 68%, not the 65% you will still see quoted around the web.

Certified Platform Administrators configure and run a Salesforce org. The exam checks that you can:

The 2026 Exam Outline and Weights
The current outline has eight sections. Compared with the version most prep sites still teach, Configuration and Setup and Object Manager each dropped from 20% to 15%, Data and Analytics Management grew to 17%, and Agentforce was added at 8%.
1. Configuration and Setup (15%)
- Company settings: fiscal year, business hours, currency management
- User setup and maintenance: licenses, locales, freezing vs. deactivating (you cannot delete a user)
- Security controls: identity verification, Setup Audit Trail, login hours, session settings
- The sharing model: org-wide defaults, role hierarchy, sharing rules, public groups, teams
- Profiles vs. permission sets, permission set groups and muting
Focus: sharing questions are scenario-based. Practice answering "what is the least-privilege way to give this user access?" rather than memorizing settings.
2. Object Manager and Lightning App Builder (15%)
- Standard object architecture and relationships: lookup, master-detail, junction objects
- Fields, page layouts and the implications of deleting fields (roll-up summaries, cross-object formulas, dependent picklists)
- Record types, business processes, Lightning page visibility, quick actions and global actions
3. Sales and Marketing Applications (10%)
- Leads, opportunities and Path
- Sales productivity features such as lead and opportunity scoring, forecasting and territory management
- Lead conversion, lead assignment rules, campaigns and campaign members
4. Service and Support Applications (10%)
- Cases, case assignment rules and queues
- Support processes, auto-response rules and escalation rules
5. Productivity and Collaboration (10%)
- Activities (tasks and events) and Chatter
- The Salesforce mobile app and its configuration

6. Data and Analytics Management (17%)
This is now the heaviest section.

7. Automation (15%)

- Approval processes: approver criteria, approvals and rejections

Common Pitfalls to Avoid
1. Studying an outdated outline
Problem: Many free question sets still test Workflow Rules, Process Builder and the pre-Agentforce weights. Solution: Check every resource against the current exam guide. If it teaches Process Builder as the answer for new automation, move on.
2. Too little hands-on practice
Problem: Reading about sharing rules and report types is not the same as configuring them. Solution: Spend at least half your study time in an org.
3. Memorizing answers instead of reasoning
Problem: Questions are scenario-based and reworded, so memorized answers do not transfer. Solution: For every topic, be able to say why one feature fits better than another.
4. Ignoring the Agentforce section
Problem: At 8% it is small, but it is roughly five scored questions, and they are new enough that older material misses them. Solution: Complete the Agentforce and Agent Builder modules in the official Trailmix.
Exam Day Tips
Before the Exam
- Run the system test early if you are testing online
- Have a valid government ID that matches your registration name
- Log in early (online) or arrive early (testing center)
During the Exam
- Read each question fully. Watch for words like "NOT," "EXCEPT," "BEST" and "MOST."
- Manage time. 105 minutes for up to 65 questions is about 1.6 minutes each. Flag hard questions and come back.
- Eliminate first. Two options are usually clearly wrong; spend your thinking time on the other two.
After You Pass
- Add the credential to your Trailblazer profile and LinkedIn.
- Keep it active. You must complete the Platform Administrator maintenance badge on Trailhead once a year, or the certification expires.
- Pick a next step. Common follow-ons are Platform Administrator II, Platform App Builder, and the consultant exams.
