Page view, bandwidth and file allocations

What the exam expects

  • Decide which requests count as page views (cached guest views do; system pages and API REST calls don't).
  • Explain what happens when an org exceeds its page view allocation: the 12-month look-back, buying overages, and continued site access.
  • State which traffic bandwidth and service request time measure, and their limits.
  • Configure site file limits (size and type) and predict which site's limits apply to a file and its newer versions.
  • Explain the risk of guest file uploads and the recommended controls.

Key terms:

  • Page view: a request from a non-authenticated user to load a page associated with the site.
  • Bandwidth allocation: megabytes served from origin and cache servers per rolling 24 hours per site.
  • Service request time: server time spent generating site pages per rolling 24 hours.
  • Look-back period: the 12 months Salesforce averages over when it calculates page view overages.
  • File limits: a site's maximum upload size and allowed file extensions, set in Experience Workspaces.

Key facts

Page view definition
Detail
A non-authenticated request to load a site page; cached views count
Page view allocation
Detail
EE 500,000/month; UE and PE 1,000,000/month; all sites in the org share it
Overage calculation
Detail
12-month look-back; the site stays available to members and guests
Bandwidth (production)
Detail
40 GB per rolling 24 hours per site; guest traffic only
Service request time (production)
Detail
60 hours per rolling 24 hours per site; guest traffic only
Maximum file size setting
Detail
3 MB to the org maximum; empty or 0 means the 2 GB default
Prerequisite for file limits
Detail
File moderation enabled for the org
Newer file versions
Detail
Must meet the limits of the site where the file was uploaded
Guest uploads
Detail
Blocked by default; enabled in Salesforce Files General Settings
Guest-uploaded files
