Experience Builder pages, audiences and publishing

How a site manager changes a site in Experience Builder: preview as a guest, target audiences at pages, components and branding sets (and why audiences are never security), build the page hierarchy and navigation menu for Aura and LWR sites, hide components on mobile, and publish.

Official exam objective
Modify an experience within the Experience Builder.

What the exam expects

  • Preview a site as an authenticated or a guest user before anything goes live.
  • Choose audience criteria and targets for an Aura site, within the record-based and nesting restrictions.
  • Reject audiences as a way to protect data; use sharing and guest security instead.
  • Build the page hierarchy and expose object records through the Navigation Menu on Aura and LWR sites.
  • Explain the Components panel, shared theme layout regions and Hide on Mobile.
  • Predict what one publish does.

Key terms: audience (a set of criteria that defines a user segment); page variation (an alternative version of a page shown to an audience); record-based criteria (audience criteria on fields of the record being viewed); theme layout region (an area such as the header shared by every page that uses the theme layout); publish (pushing all Builder changes since the last publish to the live site).
