Knowledge lifecycle, KCS and article access
How Lightning Knowledge is configured (record types, the Knowledge User license, authoring permissions), how articles move through draft, published, archived, versions and translations, how flow approvals and KCS roles, loops and validation states fit on top, and when to control access with data categories or standard sharing.
Explain the Knowledge article lifecycle, Knowledge Centered Service (KCS), and Salesforce Knowledge Management configuration.

What the exam expects
- Configure Lightning Knowledge: record types instead of article types, migration from Classic, the Knowledge User license and authoring permissions.
- Move an article through draft, published and archived states with versions, translations and approvals, knowing which action each state allows.
- Apply KCS: the Solve and Evolve loops, validation statuses, KCS roles and metrics that don't reward article volume.
- Choose data category access or standard sharing for Knowledge, and apply category limits and visibility rules.
Key terms:
- Record type: controls an article's fields and layout in Lightning Knowledge.
- Edit as Draft: creates a working copy of a published article while it stays live.
- Validation Status: the KCS confidence field (Work In Progress, Not Validated, Validated).
- Data category group: a hierarchy that classifies articles and, by default, controls who sees them.
- Link rate: how often articles are attached to cases.
