What the exam expects

  • Choose line items, child line items, child work orders or separate work orders for a multi-step job.
  • Explain how a line item's list price, unit price, discount and subtotal roll into the work order's Subtotal, Total Price, Discount and Grand Total, and why a price book on the work order is needed.
  • Configure line item status values with a status category and report on open versus closed line items.
  • Predict what a line item inherits from its work order (address, sharing) and what it doesn't (asset, skills, products, duration).

Key terms:

  • Work order line item: a subtask or step on a work order that can be completed on its own.
  • Child line item: a line item whose Parent Work Order Line Item field points to another line item.
  • Status Category: the fixed classification each Status value maps to; processes read it.
  • Is Closed: checkbox selected when the line item's status changes to Closed.
  • Price book entry: the line item's Product field, searched only within the work order's price book.
