Data Mapper scope, security and maintenance standards
The standards a consultant sets for Data Mappers: targeted scope combined in Integration Procedures, unique names and single mappings, a fixed Interface Type, Required Permission and its parent-IP gap, field-level security and encrypted fields, and the Data Mapper versioning source conflict.
Discuss best practices for Data Mappers.

What the exam expects
- Recommend targeted Data Mappers combined in an Integration Procedure over one large Data Mapper shared by many callers.
- Set naming and mapping standards: unique output names, one mapping per target field with a formula for precedence, and query hierarchy kept in Extracts with a Transform for reshaping.
- Explain that the Interface Type is fixed at creation, so a type change means a new Data Mapper.
- Recommend Required Permission values, explain the blank-value default and why a parent Integration Procedure needs the same restriction.
- Recommend field-level security per Data Mapper or org-wide, and explain encrypted-field display by designer.
Key terms: targeted Data Mapper (extracts or loads only one operation's data); Interface Type (Extract, Turbo Extract, Load or Transform, chosen at creation); Required Permission (who can run a Data Mapper); DefaultRequiredPermission (the org-level fallback); EnforceDMFLSAndDataEncryption (Omni Interaction Configuration that enforces field-level security for all Data Mappers).
Key facts
- Detail
- Targeted Data Mappers for one operation; three or fewer SObjects

- Processing order decides the saved value
- Detail
- Keep the hierarchy; reshape with a Transform
- Detail
- Can't be changed after creation
- Detail
- Any user can run it unless DefaultRequiredPermission is set
- Detail
- The Data Mapper's value overrides DefaultRequiredPermission
- Detail
- Can invoke Data Mappers the user can't access directly
- Detail
- EnforceDMFLSAndDataEncryption = true
- Detail
- Disables Org Cache, not Session Cache
