Audience-matched content, welcome emails and personalization

How to match content to the audience: lead with the what, why and how, keep one brand voice, personalise the right email components, map personas to content, use the data subscribers gave you, and write welcome and reminder messages that don't over-send.

Official exam objective
Given a customer experience scenario, summarize the type of content and message conveyed to the target audience.

What the exam expects

  • Summarise what an email must convey first (what, why and how) and keep voice and messaging consistent across the business.
  • Say where personalisation fits in each email component, from preheader to footer.
  • Match content to a persona or lifecycle stage, such as a lapsed one-time buyer or a loyal fan.
  • Choose content ideas that the available subscriber data supports, and recognise when dynamic content is the answer.
  • List what a welcome message contains and how a welcome journey follows up without over-sending.
  • Key terms: persona (a group of subscribers defined by shared data points); content library (reusable content mapped to personas and data points); dynamic content (content that displays by rules based on values in a subscriber's record); default content (what displays when you lack clear information about a customer); preheader (the text after the subject line in the inbox preview).
