Service profiles, credentials, mock mode and circuit breakers

What the service, profile and credential configurations each hold, how timeouts, the rate limiter and the circuit breaker behave, how Mocked mode supports development, how configurations move between instances, and how service log categories, the communication log and Result statuses help troubleshoot.

Official exam objective
Given a service configuration, recognize how they are applicable to the development process.

What the exam expects

  • Say which of the service, profile and credential configurations holds a given setting.
  • Predict timeout, rate limiter and circuit breaker behaviour, including which failures count.
  • Use Mocked mode and a mockCall callback to build against a service that isn't ready.
  • Move service setup between instances, knowing what must be recreated by hand.
  • Read a Result status and unavailable reason, and configure service log categories and the communication log.

Key terms: service configuration (name, type, Enabled, mode, log prefix, profile and credential); service profile (timeout, circuit breaker and rate limit, shareable); service credential (URL and basic authentication user and password); circuit breaker (suspends calls after too many failures in an interval); communication log (request and response data, the comm log type).
