Realized and expected customer value
How to judge whether a customer got the value it expected: agree measurable success criteria up front, review results against the customer's own goals, share one set of health metrics with Customer Success, and read early signals before the trailing ones arrive.
Assess customer realized and expected value.

What the exam expects
- Write success criteria that can later prove whether the expected value was realized.
- Assess realized value against the measure the customer defined, not against activity or spend.
- Align sales and Customer Success on one shared set of customer health metrics.
- Choose early signals over trailing indicators when a rollout is only weeks old.
Key terms:
- Expected value: the outcome the customer said it bought for, ideally as a measurable target.
- Realized value: the outcome the customer has actually achieved so far.
- SMARTE: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound and Ethical goals.
- Trailing indicator: a metric such as NPS, retention or lifetime value that takes a long time to measure.
