How to judge solution concepts through the desirability, viability and feasibility lenses with a comparison chart, who supplies the evidence for each lens, and how to turn assumptions and what-must-be-true conditions into prototype questions answered at the right fidelity.

- Certification: Salesforce Platform Strategy Designer
- Exam section: Tools and Artifacts
- Study guide: https://www.certifyforce.com/study-guide/platform-strategy-designer

**Official exam objective:**

> Given a customer scenario, determine the criteria for feasibility, desirability, and viability within a user experience.

## What the exam expects

- Sort evidence and questions into desirability, viability or feasibility, and name who supplies each kind of evidence.
- Use comparison-chart questions to expose the merits and trade-offs of each concept.
- Turn assumptions and "what would have to be true" conditions into prototype questions, and prototype the biggest risk first.
- Pick the right research type and prototype purpose (ideation, exploration, validation) for where the project is.
- Describe prototype fidelity by dimension, including mixed fidelity.

Key terms: **desirability** (what is valuable to the user); **viability** (what is valuable to the business); **feasibility** (what is technically possible); **prototype** (an experiment purpose-built to answer a specific question); **fidelity** (how closely a prototype conveys the intended experience of the final product).

## Check yourself

- Why does a prototype often beat a written explanation of a concept?
- When should prototypes reach higher fidelity?
- What kinds of things can a prototype answer questions about?
- Why create many early prototypes rather than one?
