# Troubleshooting stale and missing cached data

*Omnistudio Developer Study Guide · Troubleshooting and Debugging · Last updated October 27, 2026 · https://www.certifyforce.com/study-guide/omnistudio-developer/troubleshooting-and-debugging/troubleshooting-stale-and-missing-cached-data*

How to diagnose Omnistudio cache problems: different default lifetimes, caching that never happens in Preview, failed runs that cache nothing, cache headers and resetCache on REST calls, clearing Data Mapper and Integration Procedure caches with the Connect API, and turning off the Flexcard and Scale caches.

- Certification: Salesforce Omnistudio Developer
- Exam section: Troubleshooting and Debugging

**Official exam objective:**

> Resolve caching problems.

## What the exam expects

- Explain why cached data expires sooner or later than expected from each component's Time To Live defaults.
- Diagnose caching that never happens in Preview or after a failed run, and read the vlcCache nodes or REST headers.
- Clear Data Mapper or Integration Procedure caches with the Connect API, for one component or all of them.
- Name the partitions involved, and turn off the Flexcard cache or the Scale Cache when stale or sensitive data must not be cached.

Key terms: **Time To Live In Minutes** (how long cached data stays), **ignoreCache / resetCache** (options that skip the cache or force a save), **vlcCacheResult** (true when data came from the cache), **VlocityAPIResponse** (the partition for Cache Block output), **Scale Cache** (how Standard Runtime implements Org and Session Cache).

## Check yourself

- Why can a Data Mapper's Org Cache stop working after a security change?
- When does an Integration Procedure with top-level caching save nothing to the cache?
- Why can a Data Mapper with no caching of its own still return cached data?
- Where do you turn off the Scale Cache?
