# Card actions: Omniscript launch, events and updates

**Official exam objective:**

> Define and implement complex card actions, including launching Omiscripts, firing events, and updating other components.

## What the exam expects

- Configure an Omniscript action: the Omniscript, context ID, console tab settings and input parameter key prefixes per runtime.
- Configure Card actions: Set Values (data fields, session variables, Flex private variables), Reload, Remove, Select Card and Update Datasource.
- Fire custom and pubsub events with valid names, channels, Bubbles and Composed.
- Pass card data into an embedding Omniscript with Update Omniscript.
- Predict what runs when an action in a sequence fails.

Key terms: **action type** (Omniscript, Card, Event, Data, Flyout, Navigate and others), **private variable** (a Flex.varname value kept when record data changes), **custom event** (child to parent or element to card), **pubsub event** (between distinct components on a channel), **reserved name** (an event or channel name Omnistudio uses itself).
