What a Marketing Cloud Next org needs before anyone sends: core and Next editions, adoption paths, the order of Data 360 enablement and Basic Settings, required and optional data kits, and the permission sets that control who can do what.

- Certification: Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next Consultant
- Exam section: Platform Setup & Governance

**Official exam objective:**

> Explain the environment setup for Marketing Cloud Next including Core Org Edition requirements, Data 360 provisioning, Marketing Data Kit installation, and permission sets.

## What the exam expects

- State the core org and Data 360 requirements for Growth and Advanced editions, and match a requirement to the edition that lists it.
- Run discovery that settles the adoption path for a new customer, an Account Engagement customer or an Engagement customer.
- Put Data 360 enablement, the Basic Settings tasks and data kit deployment in order, and diagnose a stuck step.
- Decide when the optional sales data kit is needed, and who can deploy kits.
- Assign the right permission set, or the right granular flow permission when Manage Flow is off the table.

**Key terms.** *Core org*: the Salesforce org whose edition Marketing Cloud Next runs on. *Data kit*: a package of the objects, fields and data connections the product needs. *Basic Settings*: the Setup page where you enable Marketing Cloud Next and deploy kits. *Marketing Cloud Admin* and *Marketing Cloud Manager*: the two permission sets that ship with the product. *Data Cloud Architect*: the Data 360 permission set for Data 360 Setup and data modeling, formerly Data Cloud Admin.

## Check yourself

- Why does a discovery session ask which Salesforce experience marketers log in to?
- When does an Engagement Corporate customer gain Next Advanced features?
- Where does an admin complete the Basic Settings task that adds data protection details to records?
- Why might a user with View Flows still not find a colleague's flow?
