- Choose between a Data Extract activity, a SQL Query activity, a Filter activity and Data 360 or a warehouse, given where the data must end up and how big the job is.
- Set up a data extract correctly: provisioned extract types, a File Transfer Location, a separate File Transfer step, a safe file name and a sensible extract range.
- Recognise the limits that stop extracts and queries: 250 queued extracts per MID, the 25 GB guidance, the 30-minute timeout, the 10-minute rule of thumb and suspension after 24 consecutive failures.
- Pick the system data views for engagement and automation-health reports.
- Key terms: **Data Extract activity** (writes zipped files for use outside the platform); **File Transfer activity** (moves a file from the Safehouse to an FTP location); **SQL Query activity** (writes results into a data extension); **data view** (a queryable system table of tracking and journey data); **extract range** (a tracking extract's look-back window).
