# Calculated, streaming and real-time insights

How to pick calculated, streaming or real-time insights for a metric, build them with Visual Builder or SQL (case-sensitive DMO names, TRY_CONVERT_CURRENCY, NOW and SECOND_ADD), and schedule, run, validate and history-track them.

## What the exam expects

- Choose between a calculated, streaming and real-time insight from the latency, data source and downstream use (segment, activation, data action).
- Build a calculated insight with Visual Builder or SQL: joins to Unified Individual, measures and dimensions, case-sensitive DMO names, currency conversion and relative time windows.
- Schedule, manually run, validate and history-track a calculated insight, and name the permission set that creates one.
- Put a streaming insight into effect with a data action, and know why it can't drive a segment.

Key terms: **calculated insight** (batch multidimensional metric at profile, segment or population level), **streaming insight** (near real-time aggregation over a rolling window), **real-time insight** (metric computed in a real-time data graph in milliseconds), **measure** (aggregated metric), **dimension** (the field results are grouped by).
