# Designing within data sync, recipe and dataflow limits

The CRM Analytics limits a data design must respect (row allocation by licence, the 24-hour run limit, concurrency, data sync objects, external uploads, Bulk API use, templated-app caps) and the design patterns that keep a solution under them.

- Certification: Salesforce CRM Analytics and Einstein Discovery Consultant
- Exam section: Admin/Configuration

**Official exam objective:**

> Given a scenario, use CRM Analytics to design a solution that accommodates data sync/dataflows/recipes limits.

## What the exam expects

- Size a data design against the licence's row allocation, the per-dataset row limit and the Developer Edition cap.
- Decide which jobs count toward the 24-hour dataflow and recipe run limit and how concurrency differs by licence and org type.
- Design data sync within its object limit and its one-sync-per-object rule, and sequence syncs before the recipes that read them.
- Keep external data uploads, Bulk API use and templated-app contracts within their limits.
- Choose the design lever (multi-output recipe, fewer schedules, data sync, a dataflow feeding a recipe) that removes the limit pressure.

Key terms: **row allocation** (total rows all registered datasets may hold, set by the licence mix); **24-hour run limit** (60 counted dataflow and recipe runs in a rolling window); **data sync** (scheduled extraction staged for recipes and dataflows); **External Data API job** (one upload into a dataset); **SFDC_Local** (the connection to the org's own Salesforce data).

## Key facts

| Fact | Detail | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Row allocation | Plus 10 billion, Growth 100 million, Extra Data Rows 100 million each; all registered datasets combined | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| Developer Edition | 250,000 data rows, 5 concurrent queries | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| 24-hour run limit | 60 dataflow and recipe runs; runs under 2 minutes, data sync and CSV uploads don't count | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| Concurrent dataflow runs | 2 in Plus production; 1 in sandbox or Growth production | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| Maximum run time | 48 hours per recipe or dataflow | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| Data sync objects | Up to 100; one sync per object | [Data Sync Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_integrate_replication_limits_limitations.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| Data sync job duration | 24 hours local, 12 hours remote; 3 concurrent syncs | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| External data jobs | 50 per dataset per rolling 24 hours; 40 GB per file, 50 GB per 24 hours | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| Bulk API | Local input connection doesn't count; external Salesforce connection does | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| Sales and Service Analytics apps | 10 custom objects and one dataflow per app (contractual) | [CRM Analytics Limits](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_limits.htm&language=en_US&type=5) |
| Recipe outputs | A recipe can have more than one Output node | [Output Node](https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=analytics.bi_integrate_recipe_output_results.htm&type=5&language=en_US) |

## Check yourself

- Why does buying another Sales Analytics licence raise a Growth org's row total while the one bundled with Growth does not?
- When does a data load job that was scheduled but never started get cancelled?
- How many rows can a single dataset hold in an org with 10 billion allocated rows?
- Why do dataflows without data sync run longer as more of them read Accounts?
