Compare aerial routing, street-level routing (SLR), predictive travel and point-to-point predictive routing: what each measures, which one the scheduling engine actually uses, when travel falls back to aerial, and which settings change travel times.

**Official exam objective:**

> Outline the differences between aerial versus street-level routing.

## What the exam expects

- Contrast aerial routing with street-level routing (SLR): straight-line distance and travel speed versus average driving time by road.
- Place predictive travel (beta) and point-to-point predictive routing next to them, and state which routing each engine uses.
- Predict when a calculation falls back to aerial routing: distance over 100 km, a location over 1.5 km from a road, or a callout blocked by DML in the same transaction.
- Choose the setting that changes travel times: Default Travel Speed versus a resource's own travel speed, travel time buffers and travel modes.
- Recognize rules and features that ignore the routing setting, such as the Maximum Travel From Home work rule.

Key terms:
- **Aerial routing:** travel time from straight-line distance and the configured travel speed.
- **Street-level routing (SLR):** average driving time by road, from Google data, cached in the org.
- **Point-to-point predictive routing:** time-of-day travel predictions from exact coordinates, using Field Service Maps data.
- **Travel source:** the routing method recorded in Estimated Travel Time To Source and From Source on the assigned resource.
- **Enhanced Scheduling and Optimization:** the newer engine, which always uses point-to-point predictive routing.
