**Official exam objective:**

> Given business requirements, justify which define the applicable inventory model.

## What the exam expects

- Model storage places as locations with the right type and the Inventory Location and Mobile Location checkboxes.
- Justify one product item per product per location, and one product item per unit when serial numbers must be tracked.
- Choose between a product request, a product transfer (from a source product item or from a product) and a shipment for a stocking or fulfilment requirement.
- Predict what marking a transfer received, or deleting a received transfer, does to Quantity on Hand and to product item transactions.
- Name the product item transaction type (Replenished, Consumed, Adjusted, Transferred) an action creates.

Key terms:
- **Location:** a place such as a warehouse, customer site or work vehicle where inventory is stored.
- **Product item:** a product stored at one location, with its Quantity On Hand.
- **Product request:** an order for products, divided into product request line items.
- **Product transfer:** the movement of inventory to a destination location, from a source product item or from a product outside inventory.
- **Shipment:** product items in transit, with carrier and expected delivery date.

## Check yourself

- Why does setting a product request line item to Received not change stock?
- Which location type is the default when an admin creates a location?
- When does a Replenished product item transaction get created?
- Which transaction records the increase at the destination when a transfer is marked received?
- Why does a supplier delivery create only one Transferred transaction?
